Allegany Alert Privacy and Sources
The Sheriff app and Maryland VINE can both send alerts, but their public descriptions do not promise a shared event feed. One notice may beat the other. Some events appear on just one service. Save each registration confirmation. Note which system sent a given alert. For current county custody, recheck the official roster, and for a hearing or disposition use the court source. Privacy matters when you register. Maryland calls VINE confidential, but anyone with access to your phone or account can see a text, call, email, or app banner. Pick a safe channel. Guard the four-digit phone PIN. Keep real contact details out of any shared screenshot. If a channel turns unsafe, change it through the service and keep another direct route to local authorities.
Allegany County VINELink Coverage
Maryland's official VINE program offers a free, confidential search and notification service. It works online, through an app, and by phone. Older state material describes county-jail data exchange plus searches by name or offender number. A result may show a person's name, number, custody state, and location. A scheduled release date may appear too. No current public source confirms every Allegany County Detention Center event. The live cadence is not confirmed either. Neither is how long records are kept. To check, select Maryland in the current VINELink interface or call Maryland VINE at 1-866-634-8463. TTY access is 1-866-847-1298. For people currently held at the county detention center, the Allegany County roster stays direct. It is the official source. The official Maryland VINE page is shown here.

State guidance lists the service contacts and a safety warning. Live Allegany participation and timing still need a check in the current service.
Check an Allegany Arrest on VINELink
Search for one person with enough detail to avoid a false match. A bare name can return several records. Add a date of birth or offender number when those fields are offered. Check the facility and jurisdiction. Only then treat a result as an Allegany County arrest.
- Open VINELink and choose Maryland.
- Select the custody search, then choose Allegany County when that option is available.
- Enter the person’s name or identifying number and use date of birth to separate likely matches.
- Open the record and read the status, location, identifier, and available event details.
- Record the access time and confirm urgent or unclear information with the holding agency.
A VINELink result is its own thing. Do not merge it with a news story or a court entry. The Allegany arrest source map sorts out the Sheriff roster, the court system, the DPSCS locator, and a records request. Each one answers a different question. The VINELink custody interface is what you will see when you open the service.

The screens change over time. Confirm Maryland and Allegany County are selected before you rely on a match.
Allegany VINELink Result Fields
VINE fields describe a custody or case event that was supplied to the service. They are not Allegany booking detail. A scheduled date can shift. A listed location may reflect a transfer rather than the arrest site. When a field is blank, note the gap instead of guessing its value.
| Field | What it can tell you |
|---|---|
| Name | The identity label associated with the returned record. |
| Offender number | An identifier that helps separate people with similar names. |
| Custody status | The status last supplied to VINE, subject to update timing. |
| Location | The reported holding facility or system location when available. |
| Scheduled release | A planned date when provided, not a guarantee that cannot change. |
| Event type | A supported change such as release, transfer, escape, or a court event. |
The underlying county record lives on the Sheriff roster. It may show booked date, status, bond or hold details, charges, case number, and a booking photo when one exists. VINELink does a different job. It monitors a reported status and sends notices tied to registered events.
Register for Allegany Custody Alerts
Registering is separate from a public lookup. Maryland materials list phone, text, email, in-app, and TTY options. Choose only channels you can receive safely and privately. Phone registration uses a four-digit PIN. The PIN confirms the recipient on an automated call. Never expose the PIN or contact details in a screenshot or shared record.
- Open the correct person-specific record and confirm the identifier and facility.
- Select registration and choose the event or custody notification options offered.
- Add a phone number, text number, email address, app destination, or TTY channel.
- Create and retain the required PIN for telephone notices.
- Complete confirmation, then keep the jail and local authority contacts available as a backup.
Maryland's official material names release, transfer, escape, probation or parole, court case or hearing, and protective-order events in the broader program. Not every event applies to every Allegany record. Court and custody registration may be separate steps, so read the event label before assuming one subscription covers both.
How Fast Allegany Alerts Update
An older Maryland VINE manual described county-jail transfers every fifteen minutes around the clock, state DOC updates twice daily, and court updates once a day. Those numbers come from a 2012 technical schedule. They are history, not a current Allegany County promise. The county feed's present cadence is unconfirmed. A new booking, release, transfer, or correction can reach the jail roster and VINE at different times. Never wait on a notification when safety or custody confirmation is urgent. Call 911 in an emergency. Use the detention center or the right local authority for a time-sensitive check.
Alerts can also come through the Allegany County Sheriff MD app. Its Google Play listing offers inmate search plus status-change notifications.

The listing does not say which changes trigger an alert or whether updates match VINE. Treat the two as separate channels.
Allegany Custody System Boundaries
An Allegany County arrest starts in local hands. The county roster shows who is currently held nearby. Maryland VINE layers on status checks with optional notices. Once a person moves deeper into the state system, a different tool matters. The DPSCS Incarcerated Individual Locator becomes that tool. Even so, DPSCS itself warns that its list omits some people held in state custody.
| Question | Best source |
|---|---|
| Currently held in county detention? | Allegany County Sheriff inmate search. |
| Need a custody-change notice? | Maryland VINE or the separate Sheriff app. |
| Sentenced or placed in state custody? | DPSCS Incarcerated Individual Locator. |
| Final charge outcome? | Maryland Case Search or the court clerk. |
| Federal prison custody? | Federal Bureau of Prisons locator. |
| Federal immigration custody? | DHS-VINE or the ICE detainee locator. |
Federal inmates sit outside Maryland county VINE. Immigration detention belongs to a separate federal service, DHS-VINE. The BOP runs its own locator. Searching one system and finding nothing tells you little about the rest. Each custody network keeps its own boundaries. A hit or a miss in one place does not carry over to another.
Confirm Allegany Custody Changes
When a VINE notice lands, write down the event label and the time. Then confirm the change with the agency named in the record. A transfer often means a move to another facility. A release may carry conditions the alert never mentions. The Allegany County Detention Center sits at 14300 McMullen Highway, SW, in Cumberland. It answers at 301-729-8540. Staff may hold back details. But they can point you to the right custody or records channel.
A booking can be too new for VINE. In that case, the Allegany County 24 Hour Arrests workflow plus the official current roster is the better route. Court questions go to the official court index or the clerk. Keep VINE registration open only as long as you need it. Guard the PIN. Update contact methods after any change. Does a facility listing look off? Compare the offender number and jurisdiction before calling either office. Similar names produce mistaken matches more often than you would guess.
Note: A VINE alert is a time-stamped system message rather than a complete arrest record or permanent custody history.
Confirm each change with the named custodian.
